The Infineon Technologies Bipolar GmbH & Co. KG, a former Infineon Technologies AG product sector, was spun off in October 2007 as a separate entity in order to serve with even greater focus the increasingly specialised markets of high power semiconductors. Siemens AG participated in the new joint venture. Together some significant projects have been undertaken, such as the development of semiconductor switches (thyristors) with a silicon wafer diameter of six inches - an important innovation step! The joint venture combines our long-standing expertise in power electronics with the flexibility and dynamism of a lean and innovative company.

Energy efficiency is the pivotal market driver and will continue to grow in importance in the future. World-wide, there are only few companies as proficient as Infineon Technologies Bipolar GmbH & Co. KG in high power semiconductor technology. This means that more than 600 employees at the Warstein and Cegléd (Hungary) sites are facing a future with exciting challenges.
